Palin Is Ready for the White House! Yes!
From Cnn.com:
84 percent of the people polled said Palin did a better job than they expected, while 64 percent said Biden also exceeded expectations.
It was also the consensus that Biden won the debate overall. After sitting there for an hour and a half listening to every word, I’d have to agree. I think I saw white/gender privilege rear it’s ugly head. I was talking with Seattle about Palin’s usage of words like “darn” and other colloquial terms as well as winking to the audience. Our first thought was “If Barack did any of that while debating with McCain, it’d be a wrap for him. Game, set, match. Victory for the elephant party. I was annoyed. I feel like she’d make a great character in a Disney movie called Hockey Mom goes to the White House.
Now I’m not saying Biden was perfect up there either. He did at times seem more like a traditional politician. He did stumble over words (as did Palin). He even lost me for a second when he went into his legislative upspeak. Nonetheless, he got the job done. Palin got the job done as well. She helped her credibility, but I don’t think she did anything to really help John McCain’s chances of winning the election. But let’s talk about how she exceeded expectations for a bit.
84 percent of people polled said that she exceeded their expectations.
That’s not an accomplishment. That’s a problem. When people expect you to perform that poorly, it means they have little faith in you. I don’t think I want someone who people have little faith in as the next in line for President should McCain kick the bucket. The other thing is that if expectations were that low, she really didn’t have to do all that much to exceed people’s expectations in the first place. Let’s be real, she outright told the moderator she wasn’t gonna answer a couple questions directly and went into her pre-planned and scripted banter. She’s fighting to establish credibility and acknowledges she’s only been on the campaign trail for 5 weeks. I’ve seen people protest Barack saying that the presidency is not an internship. Well, neither is the vice presidency. If I recall, she didn’t even know what the VP did before she hopped on the piece republican ticket.
Let me reiterate. It’s a problem that republicans are “re-energized” and people are shifting their votes because she performed better than expected last night. That’s like saying if an uncoordinated HS freshman tries out for the basketball team and makes a free throw, that he’s ready to be on the varsity team. Eff outta here with that sh*t.
The End.

It should have been very easy for Palin to do better, after all she has said nothing of any importance any other time she has been interviewed, so to do better than nothing shouldn’t be hard to do, that shouldn’t be seen as such a great accomplishment.
It does say how off course many Americans are. It shows just how much Palin supporters want her to be that “someone”. Anytime a person can have none of the facts, have no overall qualifications, yet be commended for doing better than expected..when the expectancy was that she would fall on her face and prove how unqualified she was. And last night she didn’t fall on her face but she did prove that she has no qualifications to be a Vice President.

Thanks for the comment. Very well-said. I completely agree. I don’t really see how anyone can say she did an excellent job covering the issues. The only area I feel comfortable with her is energy…cuz that’s pretty much the only area she could talk about without babbling.

I just have to say that saying that a person is qualified to become either President or Vice President really gives us a false sense of security. No person is qualified to run a country unless they’ve already been the head Executor, and even that is debateable (i.e. is Bush now qualified to run the U.S.?). The argument that Palin, made primarily by Obama supporters and Dems, is unqualified to run our country is convuluted and in direct conflict with one’s support for Obama. He is no more experienced than she. It’s the truth.
In regards to the debate, Palin did a good job. Her focus was really to show the world who Sarah Palin is, and she did. That being said, I think Biden gave one of the best debates I’ve ever seen in the American political atmosphere. He was direct, used fact as logic, and incorporated just enough emotion to his case. Palin spent a lot of time defending herself and her policies and introducing herself to the public, which I think will help close the gap between the GOP and the Dems. Palin was good, Biden was brilliant.

I’m going to have to disagree somewhat. She just doesn’t appear very bright, and we see where that got George…beyond the jokes, things are a mess.

and yes, Obama is certainly more experienced than she is, and a hell of a lot smarter.

Palin is a joke. She’s so confused about what’s going on that even she supports Obama. Many times has she contradicted her running mate views and policies. Just sit back and Sarah do her self in !!!!
