Ok guys. Your boi has grown tired of blogging about the finer gender. After all, there’s more to life than women right? Yeah! Like cars, and, and… money! Just like BET tells me. Seriously though, I figure I’d tackle a user requested issue and one that has bothered me as well… the New Yorker cover.

Now, I could sit here and tell you how pissed I was when I saw the photo. Or, I could rant about how as a dude who has a Masters in Assholetry with a concentration in Sarcasm and Smart Ass Wit, I have a problem with illustrator Barry Britt alluding to this as a satirical painting. Or I could go on and on about how Blitt’s intentions of pointing out the wild stereotypes and myths that plague our future President and First Lady fell short. I even thought about writing an entry on how the cover will actually be used to fuel the fear of the naïve folks in our country. I had a whole story about a Middle American family having a dinnertime conversation over the kitchen table saying, “Honey, you see! Even those damn city folk know he’s a damn terrorist. We can’t just elect that Barack Osama.”

But, I was pretty sure that would get covered in the other blogs. And this isn’t another blog. So after some thinking…is it really that bad? All in all, it really could’ve been worse than just confusing Obama with Osama. It’s not really creative. I mean one letter? The “Man” is really falling off with his creativity. I mean, I expected so much more. For instance, it could’ve been Michelle Obama being shown as a video ho while Barack throws money at her and pops bottles of Moet while sitting in a car on 22s that’s parked on the unmanicured yard of The Black House.

Or better yet, Barack could’ve been dunking on George W in the middle of Rucker Park while Michelle smokes some trees in the stands. Or maybe Barack shucking and jiving in front of the White House in full man tan costume while all of White America applauds. Or the real masterpiece, it could’ve been a painting of Barack letting all the Black people out of jail and reinstating slavery, this time for the White folk.

I mean, those are the covers that I expected; because those are the myths that are really circulating in the back of Americans’ minds. I hate to tell you folks, but it doesn’t matter how eloquent, persuasive and qualified Obama is, ignorance will continue to rear its ugly head. It will get worse. I promise. This is just the 1st of many things to happen to the presidential hopeful. That’s what the media does. Did you really think things were different? But what is different, and great, this time is that people are up in arms about it. We really need to worry when folks, Black, White, Hispanic and Asian, start to just accept it for what is.
